weekend show

Well, the Asheville Magician had a great weekend bringing magic to birthday parties around Asheville.  This is great fun – a chance to perform some magic and meet some wonderful people!

OK – The festival season is starting up and my show calendar is filling up too. That’s a good thing, makes me happy. I’m going to start twisting balloons during the Asheville Tourist Baseball team home games. This will be a lot of fun and allow me to meet a lot of new people. Also give me a chance to learn a lot of new balloon creations. I will also be performing during the LEAF festival again in May – I had so much fun in October I’m happy to be going back. I’ll add some pictures as I get them, hope everyone had a great holiday season and you’re having a wonderful move into Spring (now that’s it’s finally warming up!)

See up soon!

Well – what have we been up to? October was a busy month. I’m thankful for that. The LEAF festival, Spruce Pine Heritage Day, WNC Nature Center, birthday parties and other Halloween festivals – all lots of fun and a chance for me to met some new friends! This picture is from a 4th of July festival over the summer. I added it because I like it and I didn’t take any pictures in October. Thanksgiving is just around the corner. I hope everyone has a happy and healthy holiday.

That’s one happy kid! This is a picture from the Thursday nights at Moe’s on Hendersonville Hwy. Not sure how much longer we’ll be doing this because of the cold weather moving in but it’s been fun for the summer and fall. Moe’s is hosting a Fall Festival on November 11th. Should be a big ball of fun with all the local shops getting in on the act. I’m looking forward to the ice-cream store serving up some tasty treats! Come say hello! Look for us back there in the spring too. This weekend was busy for the Asheville Magician! Made some new friends at the Spruce Pine Heritage Day Festival, brought some Magic to the WNC Nature Center and did the birthday party’s too. If you missed the Nature Center show they’ll have another one for Halloween. It’s Oct. 27th starting at 7:00

It’s been awhile since I’ve added anything to my blog but here it goes. This picture is from a strolling gig I did for Biltmore Estate (I know, I look like a waiter) – enjoyed myself very much. I always have fun performing at Biltmore Estate. One summer I performed inside the house. That was fun.

This past weekend my wife and I performed our first show together. A birthday party in Banner Elk NC. What a great group of people and the kids were wonderful. We both had fun and are looking forward to performing together some more. We have both been working restaurants through the summer but this is the first show we’ve done together. One thing I really enjoyed was trying out my new remote control sound effects/music. Everything worked just as it should. Music really adds that special touch to the magic show.

Well – I did it. I tried my hand at busking or street performing. Last weekend during Asheville’s largest music/street festival I went downtown, set up my table and performed a short show. It was so much fun. I had a hard time keeping a crowd at first but a friend of mine helped me draw a crowd and after that it was just like performing a regular show. One major difference is that people were standing in a full circle around me. You can watch a short video clip here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPavsuNQmRM

Hey Everybody -

Darrah and I are starting a restaurant gig two weeks from tonight at Moe’s in Asheville. There are two Moe’s Restaurants, one in Biltmore and one on Hendersonville Hwy. down from the Hollywood movie theater. I’ll be doing balloons and magic at one and Darrah will be face painting at the other. We’ll switch locations every other Thursday. This Thursday, the 29th, is our first one so please come out and say hello! We’ll be at both locations from 5:30-7:30

See You There!

What a great weekend. My wife and I walked downtown Asheville with some great friends of ours and watched some very entertaining street performers. One is a friend I’ve known for a long time – Kenny the Clown. He does a great show, rides a uni-cycle (I’ve always wanted to learn how to do that!) , juggled fire and told some bad, but funny jokes. It’s always nice to see a real professional at work. Next time your in Asheville keep your eye out for Kenny the Clown and tell him Eric says hi! After watching the street shows we went down the street and indulged in another of my weaknesses – icecream. Eating icecream everyday would be fine with me.
Today I performed for a birthday party. What a great family and wonderful kids. I really enjoy performing for kids when they are having as much fun as I am and the adults are having more fun than anyone! Now that the festival season is starting up you might see me performing during some of the area music festivals. Starting in June I’ll be twisting balloons almost every Friday for Hendersonville’s Music on Main Street. If you’re in Hendersonville on a Friday night come say hello!
I just updated my website www.ashevillemagician.com with an online magic shop. If you or someone you know is interested in magic please take a look! My book “Amazing Magicial Secrets For Kids” is great for school teachers and student both!
Thanks for reading!

Farm Fun day this weekend was a blast! What a great event for the whole family. I performed my regular 30 minute show – but had to do the show with no music! The battery in my ipod was dead so all the music and sound cue’s I’ve added over the past few months had to be left out. Nothing like finding this out just before show time! I had to leave a few routines out but other than that the show went great and everyone seemed to have a really good time. Thank you for everyone who came out to support the WNC Nature Center and the magic show. I’ll be doing some more shows for them during Halloween and Christmas. Keep your eyes open for me at some local restaurants soon! I’m talking to Mellow Mushroom and Garfield’s (both in Asheville) about performing on a regular schedule for their customers. I’ll keep you posted so you can come say hello!

I did some strolling magic and balloons for the American Cancer Society tonight. Except for the rain it was a great time. I enjoy the festival type of shows – the audience tonight was really alot of fun. I got a chance to try out a few new effects I’ve been working on and meet some new people.
